Voltage drop across cable segments Voltage drop across cable segments

Quick start

Estimate resistive losses along a chain of cable segments, not cable safety.

  1. Choose the circuit, current and resistivity
  2. Add one-way lengths and cross-sections
  3. Calculate, review cumulative voltage and export

Voltage drop across cable segments

Estimate resistive voltage drop across up to 20 cable segments. Compare two-wire and balanced three-phase circuits, see cumulative voltage and export the report.

One steady current flows through every segment. Length is one-way; supply and return have equal conductors. The three-phase mode assumes a balanced resistive load and uses line-to-line voltage.

Presets are approximate values at 20 °C, not at cable operating temperature. Enter manufacturer data when available.

ΔU = 2IΣ(ρL/S), or √3IΣ(ρL/S) for balanced three-phase. No branches, unequal return conductors, reactance, starting current or thermal checks. The chosen limit is your comparison value, not a legal standard or approval.

Multi-segment voltage drop calculator online

Calculate cumulative voltage drop, terminal voltage and power loss across cable segments with different lengths and cross-sections.

The result is an engineering or planning estimate. Verify critical dimensions, prices, limits and safety requirements before making a final decision.
