Clean structural geometry without confusing it with GIS validation
Duplicate adjacent coordinates are removed and polygon rings are closed. Rings with fewer than three distinct positions are rejected without promoting an interior hole to an exterior boundary.
Self-intersections, slivers, overlapping polygons and snapping are not repaired. Use a dedicated GIS validator for those operations.
Check the downloaded geometry and attributes in the intended application. Preserve the original file for comparison.
