Before you start

Choose a readable video. Extracting every frame from a long clip can create a very large result.

Try with a demonstration file — video.mp4

These small files were created for this guide and contain no personal data.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Choose the video and wait for its information and frame-extraction controls.
  2. Select the available time range, interval or frame selection mode.
  3. Choose the offered image format and size options.
  4. Review the expected amount of output and any displayed charge, then start extraction.
  5. Inspect several resulting images and save the frames or archive using the available result controls.

On a computer

Use the full-width working panel to compare the source, settings and result. Keep the original file so you can try another setting without replacing it.

On a phone

Choose the source from Files or your device file manager. Scroll down to the settings and result; keep this tab open until the operation finishes.

In Safari on iPhone, open the sharing menu and choose Save to Files if the result opens in a new tab. In Android Chrome, check Downloads. Keep this tab open until processing finishes.

For a better result

Start with a short interval and a modest number of frames. Increase the output only after checking image quality and file size.

Questions and troubleshooting

Why are neighboring images almost identical?

The extraction interval may be much shorter than the visible change in the scene.

Can I obtain more detail than the video contains?

A still frame is limited by the source resolution, compression and motion blur.

If you see a message that the service is overloaded, wait and try again later. A failed attempt does not mean that your source file has changed.
